Production Operator

An entry-level operator responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining complex manufacturing equipment to meet production goals safely and efficiently. Reports to production lead or supervisor.ย  Variable shift depending upon business need with ability to troubleshoot equipment and ensure adherence to safety standards.

Job dimensions
  • Operate manufacturing equipment.
  • Produce, inspect, and package products per customer specifications ย utilizing various coating, web handling, and packaging equipment.
  • Follow all EHS and Quality procedures to safely produce quality product.
  • Record manually and via computer, all material usage, accurately fill out process batch sheets.
Activities
  • Operate equipment including but not limited to: mixers, blenders, packaging lines, forklifts, palletizers, basic hand tools.
  • Use computer controls to operate equipment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects, and Kaizen events.
  • Follow process batch sheets to produce quality products per prescribed standards.
  • Adhere to all plant policies, practices, and procedures to ensure safety, quality, service, and cost objectives are met.
  • Practice continuous quality improvement in all processes.
  • Assist with quality issues affecting product.
  • Participate in ย Bostik's ย Safety programs to achieve objective of safe behavior and goal of Zero Incidents.
  • Monitor and adjust equipment as necessary and allowed by permit to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Work cooperatively with all employees and leadership to meet plant/shift objectives.
  • Maintain and improve level of housekeeping in work area and facility.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and legibly.
  • Rotate to other work functions as required by process flow.
Context and environment
  • Work in a fast paced production environment where safety, accuracy and speed are essential. Simultaneous competing priorities require effective and efficient multi-tasking to succeed.
  • Ability to stand, lift up to 50 lbs, and walk throughout workday.
  • Ability to work in non climate controlled environment.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Use of production equipment, material handling equipment, and hand tools.
  • Use of computer for data management and training.
  • Ability to influence other's behaviors to achieve a common goal while demonstrating high moral standards and leading by example.

Accountabilities

  • Operate equipment and report issues to leadership, as needed.
  • Completion of daily goals.
  • Use problem solving techniques to eliminate waste and errors and drive overall improvement in daily objectives.
  • Understanding of production and process equipment.
  • Adherence to Bostik, OSHA, and local regulations / policies.

Qualifications / experience required

  • Required Skills/Experience:
    • 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment or related work experience.
    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Demonstrated computer skills (Microsoft Applications and SAP).
    • Forklift experience.
    • Proven leadership skills.
    • Ability to read English and perform basic math skills.
    • Ability to accurately read a ruler.
    • Ability to operate automated and semi-automated equipment.
    • Ability to work plant shift schedule (8-, 10- or 12-hour shifts may be needed).
    • Willing to work an off shift and overtime as necessary.
    • Ability to effectively work in a team environment with good communication skills.
