Job description

Emergent Method is seeking a full-time web developer to join the firm's creative services team, where they will work alongside team members and clients to understand client needs and develop high-quality websites and digital solutions. This is a full-time position based in Baton Rouge, La. Remote candidates will be considered and are encouraged to apply.
The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in web development and is self-motivated and adept in completing deadline-based assignments in a fast-paced environment. This individual must be flexible and willing to embrace the challenges of supporting the development and success of the overall team.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Manage and maintain websites by updating existing code, content, security, and plugins
  • Assist with building responsive websites and applications from scratch using semantic, version-controlled code
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, including designers, developers, project managers, and other consultants, to understand client needs and propose web or digital solutions
  • Actively learn and remain up to date on web development trends, principles, and techniques
  • Exhibit enthusiasm for contributing to growing our web service offering
Minimum qualifications include:
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, web development, web/digital communication, or related field; a certification from a reputable code bootcamp; or comparable work experience
  • Three or more years of demonstrated and relevant experience translating visual designs into functioning websites and integrating into a CMS
  • Experience with Craft CMS, WordPress, or other popular content management systems
  • Extensive knowledge of HTML, CSS, and a working knowledge of JavaScript
  • Exceptional eye for quality and attention to detail
  • Familiarity with UI/UX design programs such as Figma, and/or Sketch
  • Experience with Git and version-control best practices
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, adapt to changing priorities, and integrate feedback from team members and clients
  • Exceptional interpersonal, customer service, and verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with Svelte, SvelteKit, or other JavaScript frameworks
  • Experience using and integrating APIs into web projects
  • Experience developing in a headless environment utilizing GraphQL
  • A working knowledge of PHP and Twig
