Job description

The Artist/ Typography Designer will work closely with the Art Director to create original, compelling artworks across digital and traditional mediums, as well as also supporting the Art Department through the daily creation of artwork and imagery for product development. The ideal candidate is passionate about art and interior design. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to take artistic direction well, and flexibility to juggle multiple projects under tight deadlines and shifting priorities.

Job Type: Full Time Temp-to-Hire

Pay: $25-$32/HR DOE

Schedule: Mon - Fri 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with Art Director to create original art and designs
  • Transform written direction into compelling and original artwork, in digital and traditional mediums
  • Design in a wide variety of styles/subjects including typography, illustrative, and painterly
  • Perform photo retouching, color correction, and recoloring
  • Manipulate, resize, and prepare images for production
  • Maintain organized files/records and assist with database management
  • Provide occasional hand-painted embellishments for physical product samples, as needed
  • Maintain a positive attitude and strong communication within a fast-paced environment
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and techniques
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines

Qualifications

  • Strong digital art, illustration, drawing, and typography skills
  • Expert understanding of layout, composition, and visual hierarchy
  • Ability to interpret market trends and translate them into original artwork
  • Meticulous attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Ability to multitask, effectively manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Creative and analytical problem-solving mindset
  • Reliably commute to Vernon, CA office on a full-time weekday basis
  • 2+ years of professional experience as a Designer or Artist in a related field
  • Familiarity with the Pantone color system is a plus
  • Experience working in the home décor or consumer products industry is a plus

Production & Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Recoloring, retouching, and color correction expertise
  • Solid understanding of RGB vs. CMYK color spaces
  • Experience hand-painting in acrylic, including color mixing/matching
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
