POSITION SUMMARY

The Premium Hospitality Intern plays a vital role in the success of SMU Athletics Hospitality (SMUAH) by supporting the Hospitality Manager and Associate Hospitality Manager in the day-to-day operations of premium seating and hospitality services. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone interested in event management, hospitality, or collegiate athletics. The internship will run from July 2026 to March 2027.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with gameday operations in premium seating areas, including suites, clubs, and hospitality spaces
  • Support premium guest experience initiatives and provide exceptional customer service to suite holders, donors, and VIP guests
  • Assist with setup, execution, and breakdown of premium hospitality events
  • Coordinate with catering, security, custodial, maintenance, and event staff
  • Create and update guest-facing materials such as menus and signage
  • Support management with gameday staff coordination, check-in, and communication in premium areas
  • Help maintain premium hospitality spaces and report facility or maintenance concerns
  • Assist with inventory management, office organization, and operational tracking documents
  • Participate in pre-event planning meetings and post-event recaps
  • Provide administrative support for the hospitality office
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be available to work all SMU home football games and the day prior to each game, assigned Men’s Basketball events, and select additional athletic events, including nights and weekends
  • Experience in hospitality, events, or customer service preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and adapt during events
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, familiarity with Canva preferred
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. for any employer

INTERNSHIP DETAILS

  • This is a paid position; the current pay rate is $15.00/hour
  • Internship runs from July 2026 – March 2027
  • Internship schedule will vary by season and athletic calendar. Fall semester will involve a heavier time commitment due to football season, while spring semester responsibilities will focus primarily on assigned athletic events and required preparation.

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during events
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds (e.g. event materials)
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach
  • Manual dexterity to handle event materials and technology
  • Ability to work in varied environmental conditions, including outdoor spaces
  • Good visual acuity and attention to detail
