Brown Industrial Construction is a South East Louisiana Based Heavy Civil Contractor Focusing Primarily On Clearing and Grubbing, Excavation, Drainage Infrastructure, Materials Placement, Soil Stabilization, Deep Foundations, & Civil Concrete work.

Position Description
The Bridge Carpenter Helper assists bridge carpenters and construction crews in the construction, repair, maintenance, and rehabilitation of bridges, concrete structures, and related infrastructure projects. This position performs a variety of manual labor and support tasks to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications. The Bridge Carpenter Helper works under the direct supervision of experienced craft personnel and contributes to maintaining a safe and productive job site.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist bridge carpenters with the construction, installation, and removal of concrete forms, falsework, shoring, and scaffolding.
  • Support crews in bridge construction, repair, and maintenance activities.
  • Load, unload, transport, and organize tools, materials, and equipment on job sites.
  • Assist with measuring, cutting, and assembling lumber, plywood, and other construction materials.
  • Help place, finish, and cure concrete as directed by supervisors.
  • Perform general labor duties including digging, lifting, carrying, cleaning, and site preparation.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and project-specific requirements.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment as authorized and trained.
  • Assist with traffic control, erosion control, and other project support activities as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, carpenters, laborers, and other crew members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements
Experience:
  • Previous construction, carpentry, concrete, or heavy civil experience preferred but not required.
  • Entry-level candidates with a strong work ethic and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools.
  • Basic knowledge of construction practices and job site safety procedures preferred.
