Traffic Control Technician

Since its establishment in 2010, Diamond D Industries has emerged as the nation's premier woman-owned heavy construction specialist. Situated in South Louisiana, Diamond D Industries provided a comprehensive suite of services, including access, site work, clearing, logistics, hydro excavation and storm response throughout North America.

We are currently seeking dedicated and skilled Traffic Control Technicians to regulate and assist in the safe and efficient flow of traffic in construction zones and other work sites. The ideal candidate will have experience with heavy equipment operations and a strong understanding of safety protocols. This role is essential for ensuring that all operations proceed smoothly while prioritizing the safety of both workers and the public. The Traffic Control Technician is to ensure that pedestrians and automobiles do not interfere with a construction project. Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct traffic around construction sites, ensuring safe passage for vehicles and pedestrians.
  • Installing, proper placement and removing of traffic control devices like cones, barricades and etc.
  • May direct traffic using a stop-slow sign and other traffic control devices.
  • Give and receive radio updates to coordinate with other road traffic personnel, construction workers and emergency response teams.
  • Complete site checks and monitor traffic behavior and flow to ensure public safety.
  • Maintain clear communication with team members and other stakeholders regarding traffic conditions and site activities.
  • Take instructions from crew leaders, foremen, managers, inspectors, auditors or officials.
  • Collaborate with construction teams to facilitate the project plan process and other site operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and protocols.
  • Any additional tasks or projects assigned by their supervisor.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain Traffic Control Technician Certification
  • Ability to understand and communicate information
  • Knowing how to operate related equipment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Being aware of local, state, and national operations policies and procedures
  • Strong understanding of traffic construction settings
  • Strong communication skills to interact with client, team members, contractors and the public
