Under direction of the Director of Cardiovascular Quality and the Trauma Program Manager, the Trauma Data Registrar is responsible for the collection and reporting of all Trauma Performance activities (including but not limited to Image trend, NYS DOH and National Trauma Data Bank (NTDB)) to ensure accurate, informative and timely reporting to internal stakeholders and outside agencies.
This high visibility role requires a dynamic, detail-oriented professional with excellent communication skills.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must attend or have previously attended two courses within 12 months of being hired: (1) the American Trauma Society's Trauma Registrar Course or equivalent provided by a state trauma program and (2) the Association of the Advancement of Automotive Medicine's Injury Scaling Course. A certifying examination is available through the sponsorship of the American Trauma Society's Registrar Certification Board, leading to the designation of certified specialist in trauma registries (CSTR) or equivalent.
  • Registrars should complete a minimum of 8 hours of registry-specific continuing education per year.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in the use of the ImageTend Trauma Registry.
  • Proficiency in the review and abstraction of clinical patient information from a medical record. Excellent database management skills.
  • Mathematical ability necessary to validate and analyze data.

Education: Bachelor's degree.
Experience: 3 years clinical healthcare experience working within a trauma program preferred.
License: RN preferred.
Certifications: TNCC, ACLS
