Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking an Entry Level Transportation Drainage Engineer for employment in Murray, UT. This position will be responsible for assisting Project Engineers with planning, designing, and documenting civil engineering projects, such us highways, bridges, surface drainage, and utilities infrastructure.
Under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer, Project Manager, or senior-level team member, the successful candidate will:

  • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.
  • Develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities through assigned tasks.
  • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
  • Prepare engineering related calculations, design drawings, and visual aids.
  • Assist with field investigations.
  • Collect and enter data, and apply technical principles and theories.
  • Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance, and draft reports based on observed conclusions and professional judgment.
  • Builds analytic and design skills.
  • Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License is required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
  • As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software experience (i.e. Bentley ORD, HEC-RAS, SHR-2D)
  • Holds an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain certification within a year. 
  • Capable of working within a design team
  • Excellent communication skills
