Role Overview:

We are seeking a motivated, dependable, and eager-to-learn Entry-Level Microgrid Mechanical Technician to support the maintenance and operation of multiple microgrid generator systems. This is a great opportunity for candidates looking to start or grow their career in power generation, mechanical maintenance, or industrial equipment support.


The technician will work closely with Area Managers and senior technicians to assist with generator inspections, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and general equipment upkeep to ensure reliable operation and customer support. Mechanical aptitude is required, and any prior electrical, diesel engine, trade school, or hands-on technical experience is a plus.

This position is based remotely in the Phoenix area and reports directly to the Regional Manager.


Key responsibilities:

  • Perform skilled repairs of Volvo Penta Diesel Engines (16 L), Power Solutions International (21.9 L) and Marathon generator ends, as well as various voltage control and synchronizing equipment.
  • Be proficient at learning and utilizing manufacturer specific software to troubleshoot and diagnose engine and control system problems.
  • Facilitate technical support and liaison with equipment manufacturers.
  • Perform scheduled, preventive, or predictive generator maintenance tasks.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repair tasks.
  • Perform periodic inspections to identify maintenance needs.
  • Work in potentially confined areas of high heat and humidity, and cold.
  • Follow company process and procedures for verbal/written communications.
  • Utilize all current technology for communication, documentation, and research.
  • Ensure Safe Operation of electrical equipment by enforcing company and industry standards.
  • Safely prepare, operate, and maintain motor vehicles for the purpose of conducting company business.
  • Additional responsibilities may be added at the direction of Company’s management.

Requirements:

Basic (Required) Qualifications:

  • Basic mechanical and/or electrical knowledge with an interest in power generation, industrial equipment, or field service operations.
  • Ability to safely operate company vehicles to transport materials, equipment, and personnel while following all traffic laws and company safety standards.
  • Must successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to performing quality work safely and accurately.
  • Basic computer skills, including the ability to use software applications, mobile devices, and digital systems for work documentation and communication.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including participation in an on-call rotation that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply; trade school, vocational training, military technical training, or hands-on mechanical/electrical experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be able to be on your feet for multiple hours a day.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder and lift 50 lbs safely.
  • Integrity- Work efficiently and effectively when with or without supervision.
