PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE
Madhappy is a Los Angeles-based clothing brand made for a community of optimists, born in 2017. Madhappy uses apparel, events, and experimental retail spaces – including its permanent flagship in West Hollywood – to explore a personal expression as a means to an improved state of mind. Its own seasonal stores – with past and present locations including New York City (Soho), Aspen, Miami, East Hampton, and Tokyo – are each designed to reflect their site, while still sharing the brand’s DNA. The brand currently produces a selection of ever-evolving, evergreen classic styles, seasonally available collections and collaborations. Madhappy supports research and awareness in mental health through The Madhappy Foundation (a 501c(3) non-profit) and writes Local Optimist, a print magazine. Each to celebrate us as works-in-progress, and the personal and collective expression that is a part of that.
 
About the job
We are looking to hire a full time Product Development Associate for Madhappy.
 
In this position, In this role, you will support the product development process from concept to production, ensuring high-quality, trend-driven apparel that aligns with our brand standards. Reporting directly to the PD & Production Manager, you will play a key role in coordinating between design, vendors, and production teams to bring designs to life efficiently and effectively.
 
You must be based in or willing to move to Los Angeles to be considered for this position.
 
Responsibilities
●      Collaborate with the design team to interpret seasonal concepts and develop innovative, market-ready products.
●      Source and evaluate fabrics, trims, and other materials to ensure alignment with quality and design standards.
●      Prepare and maintain detailed tech packs, including measurements, construction details, and material specifications.
●      Communicate with suppliers and manufacturers to review samples, resolve issues, and ensure production timelines are met.
●      Oversee the creation and review of prototypes and samples, ensuring consistency with design intent and quality requirements.
●      Assist in cost analysis and negotiations to ensure development aligns with budget parameters.
●      Partner with the quality assurance team to ensure that all garments meet established standards for fit, quality, and durability.
●      Track production schedules and follow up with vendors to ensure on-time delivery.
●      Stay informed on industry trends, competitor products, and new developments in materials and construction techniques.
●      Maintain organized records of product development processes and prepare reports as required.
 
About you
Qualifications
●      Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textiles, Product Development, or a related field.
●      1-3 years of experience in product development or a related role within the apparel industry.
●      Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and design-related software; experience with PLM systems is preferred.
●      Strong knowledge of fabrics, trims, and garment construction methods.
●      Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
