Summary

The Maintenance Technician I is an entry-level role responsible for supporting basic facility, equipment, and grounds maintenance. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to follow detailed work instructions under close supervision. The Technician I assists in routine preventive maintenance and repairs and plays a supporting role in scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repair

  • Perform basic maintenance tasks on drill presses, chop saws, and other primary shop equipment.
  • Assist in routine cleaning, inspections, and minor building repairs.
  • Support higher-level technicians in troubleshooting and equipment repair.
  • Follow safety procedures when using basic hand tools and shop equipment.

Preventive Maintenance

  • Execute assigned PM checklists for basic equipment with supervision.
  • Document completed PM tasks accurately and report issues immediately.

Facility Support

  • Assist with movement of equipment, tools, or materials as needed.
  • Support setup for departmental moves or company events.

Administrative & Documentation

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas.
  • Complete basic PM logs and work order entries.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all safety procedures, including LOTO when trained and certified.
  • Identify and report safety hazards promptly.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
