Job description

POSITION SUMMARY - The IT Operations Intern provides entry-level technical support for Dee Zee's end users through basic troubleshooting, equipment setup, and documentation. This role assists the IT Support Technicians with routine tasks and learns foundational skills in hardware, software, and network support. More complex issues are escalated to senior IT team members.

WORK ENVIRONMENT - May involve occasional work in production areas, which can include exposure to coolant, dust, mist, elevated noise levels, and fluctuating temperatures.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Respond to basic user inquiries via phone, email, and work order system.
  • Assist with installation, configuration, and usability of computers, software, printers, and other devices under supervision.
  • Support users with printing issues, including connecting and troubleshooting laser printers, copiers, and label printers.
  • Help with network cabling tasks such as running, labeling, or terminating cables (with guidance).
  • Perform simple hands-on fixes such as installing updates, replacing peripherals, and setting up new workstations.
  • Troubleshoot routine hardware and software issues in person or remotely, escalating to IT Support Technicians as needed.
  • Update and maintain documentation, procedures, and knowledge base articles.
  • Assist with inventory tracking, equipment organization, and general IT operational tasks.
  • Support IT team members with project-related work and process improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related program.
  • Prior technical support experience is helpful but not required.
  • Exposure to a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of user profiles and how they affect login behavior.
  • Foundational knowledge of Windows Desktop Operating Systems.
  • Interest in PC hardware, including building or repairing desktops (memory, drives, network cards, etc. - training provided).
  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP and general networking concepts.
  • Strong customer service mindset and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions, document steps, and stay organized.
