Job description

YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS
  • Assist with the preparation of federal, state, local, and Canadian tax returns, extensions, and estimated payments.
  • Support indirect tax compliance processes including sales/use tax, property tax, and HST/GST filings.
  • Prepare and reconcile supporting documentation for book/tax differences, apportionment data, and various tax adjustments.
  • Research federal, international, and indirect tax issues and summarize findings.
  • Assist in preparing documentation for tax audits and responses to tax authority inquiries.
  • Help maintain exemption certificates and sales/use tax logs, including updates for rate and regulatory changes.
  • Aid in updating and maintaining tax calendars and process documentation.
  • Support monthly close tasks including data collection, reconciliations, and indirect tax account analysis.
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing internal process documentation materials and policy updates.
  • Monitor and compile information on law changes that impact direct and indirect tax positions.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., accounting, AP, IT) and external vendors (e.g., Big 4, compliance firms).

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Capacity to learn and apply new tools and concepts.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and a willingness to take initiative.
  • Computer literacy to include Microsoft Office applications. Must have excellent Excel skills, including pivot tables and macros. Familiarity with SAP systems or OneSource tax software is a plus.
