Job Description: Junior Field Service Engineer

The Junior Field Service Engineer is an entry-level position within the Field Service Engineering organization. This role supports the execution of field activities under the direction of Senior Field Service Engineers and Field Service Managers. The position is designed to develop technical competency, customer engagement skills, and field execution experience in preparation for advancement within the Field Service Engineering team.

This role reports to the Field Service Engineering Manager and works closely with Senior Field Service Engineers, Project Engineering, and Field Service Leadership.

Field Execution Support:

  • Assist Senior Field Service Engineers with installation, commissioning, and startup activities at customer sites.
  • Support field modifications, system checks, and verification of equipment performance.
  • Follow established field procedures, safety standards, and quality requirements during all site activities.

Maintenance and Service:

  • Perform basic preventive maintenance and inspection tasks under supervision.
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment issues and support root cause identification.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to Senior Field Service Engineers or Engineering teams as needed.

Technical Support:

  • Provide entry-level support for field service requests, both remotely and on-site.
  • Support timely response to service calls while prioritizing safety and quality.
  • Accurately document service activities, findings, and actions taken.

Customer Interaction:

  • Represent the Field Service Engineering team professionally during site visits.
  • Support customer communication regarding work performed and general equipment operation.
  • Escalate customer concerns to appropriate team members to ensure resolution.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Complete service reports and required documentation in accordance with company standards.
  • Assist in maintaining service records, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Provide feedback on recurring issues to support continuous improvement efforts.

Development and Progression:

  • Participate in structured training programs, field mentoring, and hands-on learning opportunities.
  • Work under the guidance of Senior Field Service Engineers to build technical and field competency.
  • Progress toward independent field execution, troubleshooting, and customer support responsibilities.
  • Gain exposure to cross-functional teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, and Project Management.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred.

  • Strong willingness to learn and develop technical and field service skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
