Job description

For our state-of-the art 600+ person Lubbock, TX cheese and whey manufacturing facility, Leprino is seeking an IT Intern.

Summary Description:

The IT Intern will assist the Information Systems Analyst in supporting the organization's computing environment, including end-user devices, software, and basic infrastructure. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in IT support, troubleshooting, system maintenance, and operational tasks while contributing to daily IT operations.

This position serves as an entry-level support role, focusing on learning core IT functions and providing assistance with user support, equipment setup, and documentation.

All other duties as assigned.

Job Duties (Accountability Categories and Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities): 

NOTE: The job may include other "non-essential" responsibilities and duties that are not listed on this form

  • Provide first-level technical support for hardware, software, and connectivity issues
  • Assist users with common issues (password resets, login issues, printer problems, etc.)
  • Escalate complex issues to the Information Systems Analyst
  • Support users in person, via phone, or ticketing system
  • Assist with training users on basic applications and tools
  • Set up new computers, laptops, and peripherals (monitors, printers, mobile devices)
  • Assist with imaging, software installation, and updates
  • Help maintain and organize IT equipment inventory
  • Support basic configuration of devices and systems
  • Assist with basic network and system tasks (user account setup, Active Directory support)
  • Support server and system maintenance activities under supervision
  • Help monitor system performance and report issues
  • Assist with backups, patching, and security processes
  • Maintain documentation for systems, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
  • Update asset inventory and equipment tracking logs
  • Assist with reporting and basic analysis tasks
  • Support IT projects and general department needs

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend basic English language
  • Currently pursuing (or recently completed) a degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
  • Basic understanding of:
    • Windows operating systems (Windows 11, Windows Server 2019)
    • Computer hardware and peripherals
    • Networking fundamentals (preferred)
  • Strong willingness to learn and follow direction

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Familiarity with Active Directory or user account management
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications
  • Exposure to troubleshooting hardware/software issues
  • Experience from coursework, labs, or personal projects

Physical/Mental Requirements and Work Environment:

Work Environment Description:

  • Works in an office setting and is generally sedentary, but may involve movement (e.g., walking, standing, or otherwise being mobile throughout the office) for brief periods of time.
  • May be required to occasionally independently move and handle objects up to 25 pounds.

This position requires the incumbent to work on site at the facility to be able to perform the associated job responsibilities.
