Job description

Description
The Department of Theology at the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana, invites applications for an assistant professorship, tenure-track, in Catholic systematic theology. All subspecialities within systematic theology are welcome to apply, though applicants should make clear their methodological approaches, subspecialty expertise(s), and how both might contribute to Notre Dame systematic theology's mission of scholarship "in the service of 'faith seeking understanding'," exploring "the meaning, interrelatedness, and claims to the truth of the Christian tradition's basic expressions of faith." The starting date for this position will be August 23, 2027. Responsibilities will include research and publication; teaching and mentoring students at all levels (doctoral and pre-doctoral, ministerial, and undergraduate); and service to the department and university. Qualifications
The successful candidate will show evidence of a field-leading contribution to their field of expertise, as well as a capacity to engage the intellectual mission of the department as a whole. They will also be sympathetic to the mission of the University of Notre Dame, which seeks a distinctive educational and scholarly excellence that is founded on its Catholic identity. Candidates at the entry level must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. degree or have completed all but dissertation in Theology or a closely related field with successful dissertation defense by August 1, 2027. Candidates at the advanced level must have a Ph.D. in Theology or a closely related field.
