Job description

RN - Emergency Room

This position is for a contract Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room for a 13-week duration. The shift is scheduled from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. On-call requirements are not applicable for this position. The Emergency Department consists of 48 private rooms, 27 hallway stretchers, 9 fast track beds, and 5 behavioral health spaces. Total staff includes 111 personnel. Day shift typically consists of a charge nurse and additional mid-shift staff. Night shift staffing mirrors that of the day shift. Patient ratios are 1:4 in the Emergency Department, 1:5 in Behavioral Health, and 1:3 for cardiac/trauma patients. Key equipment includes Alaris pumps, Belmont and Level 1 rapid infusers, and Stryker stretchers. The department is looking for candidates with experience in trauma and holding inpatient experience. CPI certification is also preferred. Typical procedures performed in the unit include splinting, EKGs, central monitoring, trauma assists, central lines, and airway support. Behavioral health de-escalation is also a significant component of the role. Candidates should be able to multitask, work as part of a team, and be self-starters. The dress code requires navy blue scrubs for registered nurses. All established unit policies must be followed. The department actively promotes teamwork and continuous improvement within the unit.
