Wood is recruiting aย Graduateย Structuralย Engineerย for ourย Structuralย Engineeringย groupย in theย Charlotteย NC office. This individual will be part of ourย Infrastructure Design Service Lineย that supports ourย government,ย industrial,ย municipalย andย commercialย clientele. The position relies heavily on a combination ofย team-basedย experience,ย technical qualitiesย and a willingness to beย mentored. Asย a graduate engineer, you will set the bar of excellence for delivering a quality project on time and within budget.ย  At Wood, you will have exposure to several different professionsย and have the right career path to guide you toward personal success.ย Our cultureย requires a 'can do' attitude and a willingness to challenge yourself to be the best engineer you can be.ย ย 

The position will entail working on structural evaluation, repair, and new designย projectsย on a variety of types of commercial, government, and industrial buildings and similar structures.ย ย Work may also include evaluation and repair of building envelope systems and general consulting regarding building performance.ย Our projects areย generallyย located throughout the Carolinas and the eastern United States; however, we do work nationwide and occasionally worldwide.ย  Candidate will have opportunity to collaborate with personnel at otherย Woodย offices throughout the company.ย

  • Work under the direct supervision of multiple senior Professional Engineers and team leadersย  ย 
  • Provide technical collaboration to all projects within the groupย 
  • Followย corporate/office health and safety proceduresย 
  • Performย field exploration, inspection, and documentation with a team of engineersย 
  • Assist Engineers with preparation of calculations, reports, specifications, construction documents and other project related documentation, necessary for designย 
  • Take ownership of work product regarding time, quality andย deadlinesย 
Skills / Qualifications

The individual is expected to have:ย 

  • B.S. in Civil Engineeringย with a focus on Structural Engineering. MS is preferredย 
  • 0-3ย years of professional engineering experienceย 
  • Successfullyย passed the FEย exam orย can beย completedย within 6 months of hire.ย ย ย 
  • Willing toย become aย Licensed Professional Engineer in North Carolinaย 
  • Demonstratedย experienceย in a team atmosphereย 
  • Adhere to corporate/office standards for safety and quality of workย 
  • Strong written/oral communication skills and the ability to plan for team successย 
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)ย 
  • Familiarity withย commonย Structuralย Engineering software tools (e.g.ย AutoCAD,ย Revit,ย STAAD.Pro, RAM Structural System,ย Tedds, RISA), although proficiency is not requiredย 
  • A valid driver's license and clean DMV reportย 
  • Ability to pass a background check for entry into DoD facilitiesย 
  • Flexibility to travel as required,ย at timesย up to 20%ย travel; typically,ย one week or less domestic tripsย
