Job description

As a Welder, you'll contribute directly to safe, reliable manufacturing at Coperion, a Hillenbrand company, in Sabetha, Kansas. Your work will support the consistent production of high-quality metal components used in industrial processing systems around the world. We design and manufacture equipment and systems that help customers handle, process, and transport bulk materials efficiently. This role offers a steady path to build foundational welding skills while contributing to operational excellence, continuous improvement, and long-term value creation.

Location: Sabetha, Kansas
Shift: 1st shift (4:00 a.m., 5:00 a.m., or 6:00 a.m. start times)
Schedule: 45-hour work week

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Perform welding, fitting, setup, and layout of raw and formed metal using standard welding processes to create metal products that meet quality and safety standards.

  • Clean, grind, and finish welds using hand tools and equipment to ensure proper fit, appearance, and structural integrity.

  • Inspect welds visually and with basic measuring tools, identify defects, and complete rework or repairs to meet specifications.

  • Follow blueprints, work instructions, and technical drawings to complete assigned work accurately and efficiently.

  • Support basic metal cutting or trimming tasks using welding or cutting equipment as needed to complete assemblies.

  • Complete routine equipment and workstation maintenance to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

  • Follow established safety procedures and contribute to continuous improvement efforts that support quality, productivity, and team success.

  • You'll work closely with other welders, fabricators, and manufacturing associates in a collaborative environment where respect, safety, and shared accountability matter. You'll contribute to daily production goals while learning from experienced teammates and supporting the broader success of Coperion and Hillenbrand.

THE EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to perform entry-level welding tasks with guidance and follow standard work instructions.

  • Basic understanding of welding safety practices and willingness to learn company-specific processes.

  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints or technical instructions, or a willingness to learn.

  • Basic math skills for measurements and material calculations.

  • Manual dexterity and physical ability to perform hands-on welding and fabrication work in a manufacturing environment.

  • Dependable work habits, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing quality work.

  • Openness to feedback, continuous learning, and working collaboratively with others.
