Job description

We have an immediate need for an Entry Level Mechanical for one of our Oil and Gas clients. Great direct hire position in South Gate, CA.

The Entry Level Mechanic, under the direction of senior mechanics, is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of centrifugal, gear, vacuum, metering, diaphragm, progressive cavity, and other types of pumps. The Entry Level Mechanic also services compressors, gearboxes, cooling towers, and steam traps. Duties include shaft alignment, vibration analysis, and implementation and maintenance of API seal support systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

            Maintain, inspect, clean, repair, rebuild, and install pumps, electric motors, pneumatic & hydraulic equipment, compressors, combustion engines, and other rotating and mechanized equipment

            Install mechanical seals and diagnose failed seals

            Perform diagnostic work to determine the cause of rotating equipment failures

            Use PPE, lock out/tag out/block out, and safe work permits to safely work around high temperatures, corrosive fluids, and respiratory hazards

            Operate forklifts & mobile elevating work platforms

            Install form work and epoxy grouting of pump pedestals

            Maintain service and inspection records

            Keep track of consumption of parts and spares

            Assist with periodic safety inspections; identifies and corrects safety hazards

            Respond to after-hours call-ins

            Advise department personnel regarding shaft alignment, impeller and bearing clearances, fastener torquing, vibration analysis, and other quantifiable specifications and best practices

            Performs other related duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

            Knowledge of and experience utilizing precision tools including but not limited to micrometers, calipers, machinist levels, dial indicators, bore gauges, etc.

            Experience with vibration monitoring

            Familiarity with presses, torches, pullers, lifting equipment, rigging, etc.

            Strong diagnostics abilities and mechanical aptitude

            Ability to read and decipher pump performance curves

            Basic knowledge of mechanical seals and common seal failure causes

            Basic electrical skills desired

            Experience with CMMS software desired

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

            H.S. Diploma or GED

            Minimum 2-year experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of rotating equipment

LANGUAGE SKILLS

            Ability to effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing

            Ability to communicate in Spanish is desired

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Forklift certification desired

MEWP certification desired

Salary range: $60,000-$67000
