What is an entry level startup?

An Entry Level Startup job is a position at a new or early-stage company designed for individuals with little to no prior professional experience. These roles often require adaptability, creativity, and a willingness to take on diverse tasks in a fast-paced environment. Employees in these positions may work on marketing, product development, customer support, or operations, depending on the company's needs. Because startups are typically small and dynamic, entry-level employees have the opportunity to learn a wide range of skills and grow quickly in their careers.

What types of tasks and responsibilities can I expect in an entry level startup position?

In an entry-level startup role, your daily tasks can vary widely and may include supporting product development, assisting with market research, organizing team meetings, or handling customer inquiries, depending on the specific needs of the company. You'll likely collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, providing input and support where it’s needed most, which helps you build a broad skill set. It's common to wear multiple hats, so flexibility and a willingness to learn new processes are important. This dynamic work environment offers a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience, quickly build your professional network, and potentially grow into more specialized roles as the startup expands.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the entry level startup position, and why are they important?

To thrive in an entry-level role at a startup, you need a mix of analytical skills, adaptability, and a proactive attitude, usually supported by a relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Familiarity with tools like Slack, project management platforms (such as Trello or Asana), spreadsheets, and basic marketing or coding platforms can be valuable depending on the startup’s focus. Strong communication, resilience in fast-changing environments, and collaborative problem-solving help you stand out. These abilities are essential because startups often require team members to quickly learn new skills, adapt to shifting priorities, and contribute broadly to dynamic projects.

Job description

About Meow
Meow is business banking built for global companies. FDIC-insured accounts through our banking partners, yield on idle cash, and support for US and offshore entities.
Companies like Solana, Phantom, QuickNode, and DoubleZero run on Meow. More at meow.com.
Everyone on the team is exceeding quota. It's time to pour gas on the fire, and we're betting on raw talent we can train from the ground up.
About the role
This is an entry-level Go to Market role based in our Soho, NYC office, five days a week minimum. No formal sales experience required. We'll teach you everything: how to sell, how to build pipeline, how to outbound thoughtfully, and how the fintech banking and crypto world actually works. What we can't teach is hunger and coachability, and that's the one thing you need to walk in with.
You'd be joining a six-person sales team where everyone is exceeding their number. You'll learn by doing, surrounded by people who are great at this, and you'll be handed real responsibility fast. This is the kind of seat someone can grow into for a decade: learn the product, sell, earn your stripes, and eventually lead.
Who you are
  • You have a chip on your shoulder and something to prove. You'd rather bet on yourself than play it safe.
  • You're sharp. You think on your feet, pick things up fast, and ask good questions.
  • People like you. You're the kind of person who can build a relationship and a network from zero, and show interest in others so they want to keep talking to you.
  • You're hungry and you outwork the room. You figure it out instead of waiting to be told.
  • You're coachable. You take feedback in real time and get better, fast.
  • You want to be in New York, in the office, in the startup world at events and meetups. This is a build-it-in-person team.

No experience needed, but bonus points if you've done anything sales-flavored before: a job in high school or college, recruiting for a team, running a side hustle. Sales is everywhere, and a little goes a long way.
What you'll learn
  • How to sell, end to end, with full SDR/BDR training
  • How to outbound thoughtfully. This isn't a cold-calling grind, but you'll learn to reach people the right way, on a team that picks up the phone when it counts and isn't afraid to
  • Finance and banking, from yield to treasury to how global companies actually move money
  • What it takes to grow from your first deal to getting creative and building new strategies for the team

Compensation
$90K base with $150K OTE, uncapped and revenue-based. The more you close, the more you make, with no ceiling. You'd be an early hire on a small, high-performing team with a clear path up.
Why now
The next wave of companies are being built right now, and almost none of them have a long-term banking partner. The product works, the logos are real, and we're opening the door to people early in their careers who are ready to prove they belong. If you're hungry and want to learn from people who are great at this, let's talk.
