Job description

Since 1986, Advanced Refrigeration & Air has been a leader in commercial refrigeration and air conditioning. Based in Orlando, Florida, our family-owned company operates across five locations in the state. For almost 40 years, we have provided top-tier service to grocery retailers, restaurants, and businesses throughout Florida, Georgia, and Alabama.

We are currently hiring a Start Up Technician to join our Construction team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project managers and installation teams to understand requirements and timelines for new commercial refrigeration installations.
  • Conduct functional tests and performance evaluations to verify temperature control and energy efficiency.
  • Conduct pre-start-up inspections to ensure correct installation and compliance with design specifications.
  • Document start-up activities comprehensively in commissioning reports for client review.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues using diagnostic tools, and ensure proper operation during start-up.
  • Perform system start-up according to manufacturer guidelines and industry standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial refrigeration start-up.
  • Familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems, including wiring diagrams and refrigeration principles.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial refrigeration systems, components, and start-up procedures,
  • Hands on experience with Emerson, CPC, and Danfoss control systems.
  • Knowledge of installation of refrigeration systems and tools of the trade is an absolute must.
  • Availability for out-of-town assignments with night shifts
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and adapt to various work environments.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Ability to add systems to racks and perform oil changes
  • Experience installing, piping, hanging, and draining evaporator coils
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for supermarket refrigeration equipment
  • Ability to pressurize systems, pull vacuums, and pump down racks
  • Electrical, plumbing, and HVAC knowledge
  • EPA Certification
  • Strong mechanical expertise with hand and power tools
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to multitask in fast‑paced environments
  • Commitment to safe work practices and safety rule compliance
