Summary The Software QA Engineer is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of firmware and software products through comprehensive testing, analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. Activities include, but are not limited to, designing and implementing test plans and procedures, documenting software defects, and reporting defects to software developers. Provides technical oversight to ensure timely project completion.

Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to: Designs, develops, and executes test plans, test cases, and test scripts for embedded firmware and software applications.

Performs manual and automated testing across hardware/software integrated systems. Validates functionality, performance, stability, and reliability of embedded devices and software systems. Identifies, documents, and tracks defects using issue tracking tools (e.g., Manuscript)

Collaborates with developers, hardware engineers, and product teams to troubleshoot issues andimprove product quality. Accurately estimates test workload and coordinates with development teams, such as software and firmware, on priorities and developments test workloads. Conducts regression, integration, system, and acceptance testing.

Analyzes test results and provide detailed reports with recommendations. Participates in design reviews and provide feedback on testability and quality risks. Supports continuous improvement of QA processes, tools, and methodologies.

Provides regular updates on progress of allocated test designs and test cases to ensure deadlines are met. Communicates promptly with team, management, and project managers. Communicates at all levels, manages multiple projects, and tracks and disseminates metrics to monitor software quality.

Offers accurate status updates on defect information and metrics. Interacts and collaborates with groups such as Software, Firmware, Sales, Operations, and Technical Support to manage and resolve software quality issues. Coordinates with Documentation team to manage software/firmware release and Engineering Change Orders (ECO).

Selects and utilizes tools and methodologies to ensure that software tests identify defects and comply with quality standards. Contributes to the creation and maintenance of software manuals. Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science (BSCS) or similar discipline and previous related experience as Software QA Engineer or similar, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary. Master's degree in Engineering (MSCS) or similar discipline is a plus. Previous experience testing in an embedded systems environment is necessary.

Previous experience with (black box & white box) software testing and customer interfacing experience, including electronics and electronics test measurement equipment such as power supplies, DVM, multi meter, shunt resistor, function generator, oscilloscopes, etc. is necessary. Ability to understand project requirements via Product Design Specifications (PDS) in order meet deadlines while working with other departments such as Business Development, Sales, Technical Support, and Operations.

Ability to adhere to existing schedule templates using industry standard milestones such as PDR and CDR is necessary. Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and schematics is necessary. Working knowledge of testing communication channels such as UDP & TCP/IP using Wireshark and other tools, as well as, an understanding of QA methodologies, testing lifecycle, and defect tracking is necessary.

Working knowledge of and/or experience with software development utilizing C, C++, C#, or .NET in an Agile environment is necessary, as well as, testing communication channels such as UDP & TCP/IP using Wireshark and other tools is necessary. Experience with test tools, scripting, or automation frameworks (e.g., Python, C/C++, or similar) preferred. Familiarity with real-time operating systems (RTOS), as well as, familiarity with hardware-software interaction and debugging techniques preferred

Demonstrated ability to appropriately address and document details, write customer facing reports, meet deadlines, and communicate/work effectively with other departments in a professional, diplomatic manner is necessary.
