Job description:

  • We are seeking an entry-level Functional Safety Engineer to ensure the safety and reliability of our autonomous robotic vehicles.
  • The role involves identification of hazards and risks using Systems Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA), supporting definition of requirements, and implementing measures throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • The Functional Safety Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety into the design, development, verification, and validation of our technologies, adhering to industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote a culture of safety and compliance throughout the organization by fostering an environment where safety is prioritized and integrated into daily operations.
  • Contribute to the development of functional safety concepts and requirements for autonomous vehicle control systems.
  • Good understanding of Functional Safety lifecycles in general.
  • Conduct safety analysis, including STPA, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
  • Collaborate with hardware and software engineering teams to ensure safety requirements are allocated to the design and development process.
  • Review safety verification and validation activities, including safety testing and simulation.
  • Ensure compliance with internal safety processes and workflows, which are loosely based on a mixture of relevant safety standards (e.g., ISO 25119, ISO 13849, IEC 61508) and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain safety documentation, including safety plans, safety cases, and safety reports.
  • Participate in safety audits and assessments, both internal and external.
  • Contribute to technical guidance and support to project teams on functional safety matters.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in functional safety and autonomous vehicle technologies.
