This is an entry level Software Engineer 1 position. This role is onsite, in Fulton, Maryland. This role may be eligible for relocation.

What You Will Do:

• You will develop innovative new features for a new real-time situational awareness Command & Control Systems (C2) using Java.
• You will design, architect and code critical capabilities in an active Agile environment.
• You will work in a highly collaborate team environment to design, architect and innovate software solutions.

What You Will Learn:

• You will learn how to develop high quality software to support real-time situational awareness Command & Control Systems (C2) systems.
• You will learn how to support engineering process improvements, audits and peer reviews.
• You will learn how to work within a highly collaborative software team and interface with other engineering disciplines as needed to meet program contract milestones.
• You will learn how to update documentation related to test, verification, and design activities.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) obtained prior to start and less than 2 years prior relevant experience.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
• Experience and/or knowledge in programming multithreaded systems.
• Experience in software development using Java or C++.  

**Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Ability to engage & build positive relationships with both customers as well as internal & external employees.
• Opportunities for travel to customer sites for demos, integration and support.
• Strong computer science fundamentals such as data structures, algorithms and information retrieval.
• Relevant work experience using SW Development tools (e.g. Maven, Apache Ant, Jenkins, etc).
• Relevant work experience with full life cycle development including exposure to software requirements, design, development, debug and test.

The salary range for this role is 62,900 USD - 119,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
