Survey Technician | Rock Island, IL

IMEG is hiring a Survey Technician in Rock Island, IL to support office production for land surveying activities by processing incoming information and producing final project deliverables. This entry-level role supports office and field staff and provides survey assistance under the leadership of a Senior Survey Coordinator.

In this role, you will support data processing, quality assurance, research, computations, drafting, and fieldwork while coordinating with your supervisor to meet client-specific demands. You will contribute to transportation, municipal, and bridge projects, delivering resilient, environmentally responsible infrastructure.

What You'll Do

  • Process survey data using IMEG CAD standards, evaluate accuracy, and support compliance with applicable land survey project and professional standards under the direction of your supervisor and a licensed professional

  • Monitor field crew production and provide quality assurance

  • Research historical maps, land records, previous surveys, and land title reports

  • Provide survey computations, staking/control exhibits, and survey crew instructions for construction staking and field survey projects

  • Prepare cadastral, existing conditions and platting from field and office data using AutoCAD Civil software

  • Carry out initial QC of field deliverables according to standards and best practices

  • Coordinate with supervisor to ensure client-specific demands are being met

  • Act as a field technician as requested to complete survey field work

  • Maintain professional and productive working relationships with all clients and coworker

  • Observe safety and security procedures

What You'll Bring

Education

  • Associate degree, or certificate, in Land Surveying or Engineering preferred

Experience

  • Prior experience in the land surveying, consulting or construction industry is preferred

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Work to gain knowledge of survey operations, principles, principles, and practices

  • Knowledge of engineering plans and construction documents

  • Knowledgeable of office workflow processes and problem-solving techniques

  • Strong computer and technical skills; AutoCAD or similar applications are a plus

  • Proficiency in technical math, geometry, and trigonometry is recommended

  • Possess basic oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to communicate with clients, coworkers and professionally represent IMEG

  • Valid driver's license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier; must consent to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check

  • Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays

State of Illinois Salary Range: $51,000-$84,000 per year

The range listed above represents the base pay IMEG reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position in the work location identified above at the time of posting. For positions available in multiple locations, the minimums and maximums may vary based on work location.

Individual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors, including the candidate's experience, education, knowledge, skills, abilities, and licensure and certifications.

Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
