VitalCore Health Strategies is hiring a Part-Time (24 hours/week) Mental Health Professional in our Emerging Adults Program at North Central Correctional Institute in Gardner, MA!

POSITION SUMMARY
The Emerging Adults Mental Health Professional will be involved in working with all disciplines to attain effectiveness in serving the patient population with a focus on providing treatment for incarcerated individuals in the Emerging Adults program as they grow toward the responsibilities and possibilities of adulthood. The BHP is essential in providing care that assists program participants with developing self-awareness, accountability, skills, integrity, positive connections, empathy, and a sense of purpose.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduation from a Master’s level program in Behavioral Health services and be eligible for or have an LCSW, LICSW, LMHC. 
    • If eligible, you must be on track to obtain licensure.
  • Minimum of one year employment in a social work capacity in a public or private agency or equivalent. 
  • Must receive a satisfactory background investigation report. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs structured intake behavioral health assessments to evaluate mental health status, risk factors, substance use history, and psychosocial needs, as appropriate. 
  • Review and documents prior treatment history, current symptoms, medication use, and relevant institutional behavior in the health record. 
  • Participates in the development of provisional diagnostic assessments and treatment recommendations in alignment with diagnostic criteria and correctional behavioral health standards. 
  • Performs administrative consults for specialized social services as determined by the specific needs of the Institution. 
  • Provides crisis intervention, suicide risk assessments, and referrals for urgent care as needed during program participation. 
  • Provides clinical input to the classification and programming teams regarding mental health treatment needs, and housing considerations. 
  • Performs specific psychiatric social service work on the Behavioral Health Unit of a Correctional Facility. 
  • Assists in planning and implementing the goals and objectives of programs and projects. 
  • May direct special projects as requested. 
  • Participates in and conducts in-service programs, as well as assists in the orientation of new staff. 
  • Provides the necessary preparation of documentation, necessary records and reports. 
  • Maintain proficiency with all software required for the position, and more specifically, clinical documentation in the designated electronic health record system. 
  • Attends training and meetings as required. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
