THE POSITION

Begin your career as a County Caseworker 1 with Luzerne County Child Welfare Services. In this role, you will build new skills while helping families find stability and support. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role supports children, youth, families, and others by learning agency practices and providing entry level social services. The position focuses on training, resource exploration, and assisting with basic casework tasks. As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Training Participation: Take part in learning activities to understand agency programs and procedures
  • Resource Exploration: Review community resource information and visit service sites to build awareness
  • Client Support: Assist individuals and families with basic social service needs and case management tasks
  • Placement Assistance: Help with arranging care in foster homes, daycare settings, or other supportive environments
  • Guidance Services: Provide direction in topics such as budgeting, parenting, housing, and daily living skills

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar positio...
