Job Type: Full-time


Job Summary


Our client, a leading manufacturing company specializing in steel and metal building components, is seeking a skilled and dependable Slitter Operator to join its production team. This role is responsible for setting up and operating slitting equipment to process steel coils according to production specifications while ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance with safety standards.


Responsibilities


  • Set up and operate slitting machines according to work orders and production requirements.
  • Process steel coils into specified widths while maintaining quality and production standards.
  • Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to ensure accurate cuts and proper material alignment.
  • Inspect finished materials for dimensions, edge quality, and overall compliance with specifications.
  • Read and interpret work orders, production schedules, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Perform routine machine inspections and basic preventive maintenance.
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions, material defects, or production issues.
  • Maintain accurate production records as required.
  • Keep the work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
  • Follow all company safety policies and manufacturing procedures.
  • Assist with other production-related duties as assigned.


Qualifications


  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience operating slitting equipment, coil processing machinery, or similar manufacturing equipment preferred.
  • Experience in a steel manufacturing, metal fabrication, or roll-forming environment is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read tape measures and use basic measuring tools accurately.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform minor machine adjustments.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


Physical Requirements


  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when necessary.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
