Job Title: Belt Slitting Operator

Department: Production

Supervisor: Plant Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


This position is posted for our Headquarter Facilities in Clarence, NY. However, the selected candidate will primarily work at Global Abrasives, Inc.'s current location in Lockport, NY for approximately the first four months as our expansion approaches completion.


Summary of Job: Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Belt Slitter will be responsible for resizing abrasive belts according to customer specifications, or all of the various duties and tasks in the Belt department.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Regular tasks performed and outcomes to be accomplished on the job. Other duties may be assigned.

· Review work orders, blueprints, and/or specifications to determine setting requirements for roll slitting machines.

· Measure dimensions of abrasive rolls to verify conformance to specifications.

· Weigh finish product.

· Conduct test runs of production equipment.

· Perform routine maintenance on slitting machine.

· Keep accurate records of production output. 

· Must meet or exceed average daily production rates. 

· Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

· Follow all safety procedures and company policies.

· Maintain a professional, clean and safe work area.

· Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. · Must have full operating knowledge of the slitting machine.

· Knowledge of safety procedures related to operating machinery and handling materials.

· Experience with abrasives, a plus.

· Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints.

· Ability to use thinking or reasoning to solve a problem.

· Attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in measurements and cuts.

· Strong communication skills to work as part of a team.

· High School Diploma, or GED.
