Responsibility Summary

The Chemist will be responsible for analyzing batches, measuring physical parameters such as Viscosity, pH, and Density, interacting with vendors, documenting, collaborating with supervisor, and entering formulation.

Responsibilities

The Chemist supports the R&D Skincare team through a variety of tasks, including:

  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date lab notebook.
  • Prepare and make lab batches.
  • Create qualitative and quantitative ingredient lists.
  • Check next-day specifications against the previous day's batch.
  • Follow up on ongoing stability studies and report observations.
  • Analyze lab batches by measuring physical parameters: viscosity, pH, and density.
  • Enter formulations into the company's formulation system.
  • Communicate with raw material vendors and attend in-house vendor presentations.
  • Manage time effectively to meet batch, testing, and project deadlines.
  • Assist in the formulation and development of innovative skin care products, including line extensions and product improvements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as QA, Regulatory, Production, and Marketing.
  • Review results and progress regularly with the supervisor.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper organization of raw materials and samples.
  • Follow all laboratory safety, GMP, and internal quality standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry (or Biology with coursework in general and organic chemistry).
  • 0-3 years of experience in R&D, formulation, and emulsions, ideally in skin care product development.
  • Well organized and highly detail-oriented.
  • Strong understanding of cosmetic raw materials, formulation principles, and production equipment.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Genuine interest and passion for cosmetics and skin care product development.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10-15 pounds.
Compensation & Benefits

The approximate pay range for this position is $60,000 - $68,000. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities.
