Server Assistant – Job Description


The Server Assistant / Food Runner plays a critical support role in delivering a seamless and well-paced dining experience at SEIA. This position is responsible for food running, table maintenance, resets, and supporting the Captain and Front Server to ensure service flows efficiently and consistently. A Server Assistant must demonstrate urgency, attention to detail, and strong awareness of the dining room while upholding SEIA’s service standards.


Your Responsibilities:

• Support the Captain and Front Server by executing food running, table resets, and service support with precision and urgency.

• Deliver food from the kitchen to the dining room accurately, following proper table numbers, seat positions, and presentation standards.

• Assist with table maintenance throughout service, including clearing, crumb downs, water service support, and resetting between courses.

• Maintain awareness of table pacing and communicate needs or delays to the Front Server or Captain.

• Support service flow by assisting with pre-bussing, clearing, and guest readiness for subsequent courses.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of service stations, side stands, and assigned


FOH areas.

• Assist with opening and closing duties, including setup, breakdown, and restocking as assigned.

• Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests, escalating to the Front Server or Captain when appropriate.

• Uphold SEIA service language, presentation standards, and hospitality expectations at all times.


Your Qualifications:

• Previous experience in a Server Assistant, Food Runner, or similar support role preferred; entry-level candidates with strong work ethic will be considered.

• Ability to move with speed, accuracy, and awareness in a fast-paced, high expectation environment.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to proper service mechanics.

• Clear communication skills and a team-first mindset.

• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and carry trays, plates, and service equipment.

• Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

• A genuine interest in hospitality and fine dining service.
