Job description

Museum of Science, Boston
www.mos.org
Innovation and creativity come from the unique perspectives of a diverse staff. We value your perspective.
Who We Are
As science and technology increasingly shape our lives, the Museum of Science strives to equip and inspire everyone to use science for the global good while keeping up with the pace of change. Among the world's largest science centers and New England's most attended cultural institution, we engage nearly five million people a year - at Science Park and in museums around the world, in classrooms, and online.
The Museum's singular location connecting Boston and Cambridge puts us at the junction of some of the world's most influential academic institutions and industries, local and state government, schools, and the public. Trusted by each sector, we are ideally positioned to convene, inspire, and create meaningful experiences for all. Come join us on our mission to inspire a lifelong love of science in everyone and living our vision for a world where science belongs to each of us for the good of all of us.
What You'll Accomplish
  • Assist in carrying forward a vision for curriculum units for PK-8 educators and students that reflect YES educational philosophies. Lead strands of a curriculum development project, including conceptualization, writing, and editing of parts of activities.
  • Communicate with educators, advisors and afterschool providers throughout the development process to gather user feedback that will inform content revisions and innovation.
  • Communicate with contractors/vendors such as illustrators, copy editors, and translators to bring together elements of YES units for print and digital deployment.
  • Support the team in writing/editing and delivering professional educational and evaluation resources with uniform style and appearance to maintain the YES philosophy, brand, and standards.
  • Support the team by building up in-depth knowledge of NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards), and other relevant cross-subject educational standards that inform YES curriculum work.
  • Assist the team at workshops and institutes for teachers as well as conferences and outreach events at the state and national level to disseminate and build awareness of curriculum resources.

What We're Looking For (Competencies)
  • Knowledge of educational standards, rubrics, and pedagogical approaches that inform curriculum development.
  • Experience writing and editing STEM curriculum resources for PreK-8 educators.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate information clearly and effectively in oral and written forms.
  • Demonstrated creative and innovative approaches to product development.
  • Demonstrated ability to track and manage detail-oriented work.
  • Experience teaching in PreK-8 classrooms.

Physical Requirements
  • Valid driver's license required; ability to travel locally for classroom observations, outreach events, and meetings, with occasional national travel as needed.
  • Ability to occasionally transport, set up, and move educational materials and supplies, including lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs. and pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs.

How We Work-Our Values
Mission-Focused: We inspire a lifelong love of science in everyone.
Audience-Driven: Everything we do begins with the people we serve.
Innovative: We are curious, take smart risks, share responsibility, and own outcomes.
Generous: We offer time and energy towards common goals.
Salary Range
$60,000-$70,000 USD
