Work EnvironmentLaboratories, manufacturing plants, calibration labsIndustrial settings, manufacturing facilities, calibration centers
Employer & IndustryManufacturing, quality control, calibration service providersIndustrial, manufacturing, and calibration service companies

The Entry Level Scale Calibration Technician typically performs basic calibration tasks under supervision, focusing on routine calibration of scales and measurement devices. In contrast, a Scale Technician may handle more complex calibration procedures, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Both roles are essential in industries requiring precise measurements, but the technician role often requires more experience or certifications. The entry-level position is ideal for those starting in calibration, while the Scale Technician role suits those with more technical expertise.

How to get a job as an entry level scale calibration technician?

To become an entry-level scale calibration technician, candidates typically need a high school diploma or equivalent, along with technical training or an associate degree in metrology, electronics, or a related field. Gaining hands-on experience through apprenticeships or entry-level positions and obtaining certifications such as those from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) can improve job prospects. Familiarity with calibration tools, measurement standards, and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.
