Komyo America has an opportunity to join our organization in the role of Safety Administrator, located in Troy, OH. Reporting to the EHS Assistant Manager, this position will provide a entry level of EHS services to the Troy facility. It is critical that the candidate be capable of creating and fostering strong work relationships within and out of the organization and a positive work environment.

Komyo Logistics headquarters are based in Troy, Ohio and is a world- class provider of third party logistic services in the automotive industry. Komyo America, Inc. is a Honda Logistics North American, Inc. Company. Komyo has offices in Ohio, Tennessee, Florida and California.


Job Summary

Accountable for developing, organizing, administering, and maintaining the facility safety program, which serves the purpose to minimize the number and reduce the severity of incidents and injuries while maintaining the efficiency of the company and the well-being of its employees. Complies with OSHA and other appropriate standards. Investigates violations of safety policies and procedures and resolves non-conformances through corrective action. Provides safety training for all employees including Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) Handling, Bloodborne Pathogens, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and CT-PAT. Ensures that all areas of the facility are inspected for any conditions that pose a potential safety problem and that all safety issues are identified, corrected and followed up. Reviews formal safety incident reports from supervisory and management personnel and assists in the employee corrective action process. Conducts monthly safety meetings and safety walks on a daily basis. Conducts equipment operator training, processes certifications and monitors safe operation of forklifts through established procedures. Maintains facility’s Emergency Evacuation Plan and trains all associates on policies and practices. Surveys current safety literature and attends relevant seminars and meetings to ensure ongoing preparedness on topics related to safety improvement and hazard prevention. Ensures that Komyo has the most suitable working environment for its employees and their activities.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Education: High School diploma or GED. Some College course work preferred. Ability to read and write English fluently.


    Experience:

    • 2-4 years of safety experience in warehouse operations or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office / Excel / Word / Access.
    • Public Speaking to large groups
    • Leading Teams of 5-10 people

    • Must be a team player and capable of fostering a positive work environment.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to present information either in written or verbal format to ensure understanding.
    • Ability to work independently under pressure, meet deadlines, make decisions and exercise sound judgment.
    • Excellent organizational skills in report research and preparation, paperwork, and prioritization.
    • Applies critical and analytical thinking to work assignments.
    • Familiar with warehousing processes in order to drive safety within those environments.
    • Knowledge of OSHA rules and guidelines to maintain an effective safe work environment.
    • Demonstrates a “can-do” approach in responding to management requests as well as associates.
    • Acts to improve existing processes or systems, or to develop new ones.
    • Is receptive to new ideas, accepts change & is willing to adapt to new work situations.
    • Pursues activities that keep his/her job skills current & up-to-date
    • Strong work ethic and professionalism.
    • Shows ability to quickly learn new process, system or procedure. Is a self starter and highly productive team member.
    • Lead facilities safety committee activities.
    • Act as a role model for all associates and adhere to the company core values.
    • Conduct on-site workplace inspections/audits for compliance; ensure immediate resolution of hazards and drive management team for sustained resolutions and results.
