Job description

About Us
We support multiple automotive manufacturing facilities with a wide range of automated equipment. Our technicians work directly on the plant floor, troubleshooting and maintaining systems where uptime is critical.

Position Overview
The Automation Technician supports automated equipment in active production environments across multiple facilities. This is a hands-on role involving troubleshooting, repairs, and improvement of robotic, electrical, mechanical, and PLC-controlled systems.

While there are opportunities to work with robots and controls, this is not a programming-only position. Success in this role starts with strong equipment troubleshooting, reliability, and a willingness to support the full scope of plant automation.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Respond to equipment issues and restore production in a timely manner
  • Troubleshoot automated systems including robotic weld cells, stamping lines, and standalone equipment
  • Perform hands-on mechanical and electrical work (sensors, wiring, tooling, components)
  • Use PLC and robot interfaces to diagnose faults and support recovery when required
  • Complete preventative maintenance on automation equipment and related hardware
  • Support equipment improvements, upgrades, and ongoing reliability efforts
  • Work with maintenance, trades, and engineering on problem-solving and projects
  • Support multiple facilities based on operational needs
Technical Requirements
  • Experience working with industrial equipment in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Exposure to PLC-controlled equipment (Allen-Bradley preferred)
  • Basic ability to go online with a PLC to monitor and diagnose faults
  • Experience with industrial robots is an asset
  • Comfortable using hand tools and working directly on equipment
Role Fit
  • Are comfortable working across mechanical, electrical, and controls systems
  • Take ownership of problems and follow them through to resolution
  • Are willing to support the full scope of the role, including hands-on work
  • Stay composed under production pressure and think logically
  • Are open to learning and building their skill set over time

Development
Technicians are given opportunities to expand their skills across automation systems, including PLCs and robotics.

Growth into more advanced controls and programming work is based on demonstrated performance, reliability, and problem-solving ability in the role.

This position is designed to build well-rounded technicians through hands-on experience in a production environment.

Working Conditions / Schedule

  • Work is performed in active manufacturing environments
  • Technicians are typically assigned to a primary plant within the local area
  • Based on operational needs, support may be required at other nearby facilities
  • Role may involve shift work, overtime, and on-call support
  • Exposure to industrial conditions including noise, heat, and moving equipment
Why Apply

This role offers hands-on experience across a wide range of automation systems in a real production environment. Technicians gain exposure to robotics, PLCs, and industrial equipment while building practical troubleshooting skills that carry long-term value.

It is a strong fit for individuals who want to develop into well-rounded automation technicians through consistent, hands-on work.
