Job description

Job Requirements

Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System is committed to a continued focus on quality patient outcomes and associate satisfaction. To meet this need, SRHS has expanded its nursing resource pool to allow for a system-wide Staffing Response Team. Leveraging this type of staffing model provides a consistent resource of highly skilled, flexible, and competent nursing associates to move among SRHS facilities support a variety of nursing units.

Position Summary

The Resource Pool Registered Nurse demonstrates thorough knowledge, while providing patient nursing care through clinical assessment, outcomes identification, planning, and implementation in accordance with SRHS policies and procedures. Serves as a patient advocate and resource to all nursing associates.  The Resource Pool Registered Nurse performs all job-related responsibilities in a safe manner while collaborating with healthcare team members.

Minimum Requirements

Education

  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing.

Experience

  • Years of Experience required are dependent upon RP Level

License/Registration/Certifications

  • Current R.N. licensure in the state of South Carolina
  • BLS
  • ACLS, PALS/ENPC, NIHSS (depending on patient assignment)

Resource Pool RN Levels

Entry Level: New Graduate (Non-Critical Care) 1271

  • Acute-Care Facility only
  • Full-time
  • Assigned based on daily staffing needs
  • Ability to advance to Level 1 after one year following validation of competencies

Level 1 (5744)

  • Minimum one year experience
  • Med-surg/Telemetry or Critical Care
  • Assigned based on daily staffing needs
  • Facility Specific required
  • Second Facility optional

Level 2 (5745)

  • Minimum 18 months experience
  • Med-surg/Telemetry or Critical Care
  • Allocated to facility and unit at least one week in advance
  • Minimum of 3 facilities
  • Completion of systemwide competencies

Level 3 (5746)

  • Minimum two years' experience
  • Med-surg/Telemetry and/or Critical Care
  • Full-time
  • Assigned to facility and unit for average of 12-16 weeks
  • Required to function as Charge Nurse and Preceptor when needed
  • Required to work at all facilities
  • Completion of systemwide competencies

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with patients, families, and other members of the health care team to determine patient priorities and treatments
  • Initiates and facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration to enhance outcomes
  • Seeks necessary assistance in completing nursing interventions to assure positive patient outcomes
  • Participates in hourly rounding and bedside shift report
  • Responsible for demonstrating competencies for all new equipment and procedures.
  • Provides clinical guidance to students and ancillary staff
  • Successfully completes hospital and unit-based orientation programs
  • Formulates a plan for professional growth
  • Ensures compliance with all clinical expectations regarding regulatory requirements
  • Identifies appropriate standards of care, and/or collaborative clinical pathways to guide the plan of care
  • Complies with established policies and procedures
  • Identifies the need to develop or revise policies and procedures pertaining to specialized patient populations and/or unit and hospital-based practices
  • Prioritizes nursing interventions for an assigned group of patients
  • Assesses assigned patients' medical history, admitting diagnosis and physician's orders, obtaining nursing history, performing physical assessment, evaluating diagnostic data, and interviewing patient and family to determine patient needs
  • Demonstrates knowledge of professional nursing practice and theory.
  • Assures continuity of care through effective decision making resulting in quality patient care
  • Documents all aspects of patient care by following established charting procedure to show the patient's progress or any change in the patient's condition
  • Other Duties as assigned
