Entry Level Robotics information

What is entry level robotics?

Entry level robotics jobs are positions designed for individuals who are new to the robotics field, typically recent graduates or those with limited professional experience. These roles may involve assisting in the design, assembly, testing, and maintenance of robotic systems under the supervision of more experienced engineers or technicians. Common responsibilities include programming robots, troubleshooting technical issues, and supporting project teams in research and development. These jobs often require a background in engineering, computer science, or a related field, and provide valuable hands-on experience for career growth in robotics.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an entry level robotics professional?

To thrive as an Entry Level Robotics professional, you need a solid understanding of robotics fundamentals, programming (such as Python or C++), and often a degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field. Familiarity with robotics platforms (like ROS), CAD software, and basic electronics or automation tools is typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and effective communication help individuals stand out in this collaborative and innovative field. These skills and qualities are crucial for designing, testing, and improving robotic systems in a rapidly advancing industry.

What types of projects or tasks can I expect to work on as an entry level robotics engineer?

As an entry-level robotics engineer, you can expect to be involved in tasks such as assembling and testing robotic components, supporting software development for robotic systems, conducting experiments to validate sensors and actuators, and assisting senior engineers with troubleshooting and data analysis. You may also participate in team meetings to discuss project requirements and progress, and collaborate closely with specialists in mechanical, electrical, and software disciplines. These experiences help you build foundational skills and understanding that pave the way for more complex responsibilities as your career progresses.

What is the difference between Entry Level Robotics vs Entry Level Mechanical Engineer?

AspectEntry Level RoboticsEntry Level Mechanical Engineer
Required CredentialsAssociate's or Bachelor's in Robotics, Mechanical, or Electrical EngineeringBachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Work EnvironmentManufacturing, automation labs, research facilitiesDesign firms, manufacturing plants, R&D departments
Industry UsageRobotics companies, automation industriesAutomotive, aerospace, manufacturing sectors
Common Search/ComparisonYesYes

Entry Level Robotics and Entry Level Mechanical Engineer roles share similar educational backgrounds and work environments, often overlapping in manufacturing and automation sectors. While robotics roles focus on designing and programming robotic systems, mechanical engineering positions emphasize designing mechanical components and systems. Both are entry-level positions suited for recent graduates seeking careers in engineering and automation industries.

How to become an entry level robotics engineer with no experience?

To become an entry-level robotics engineer with no experience, focus on gaining foundational knowledge in robotics, programming, and electronics through online courses, tutorials, or community college classes. Building hands-on skills with robotics kits, programming languages like Python or C++, and understanding basic mechanical and electrical systems can improve employability; internships or volunteering can also provide practical experience. Certifications in robotics or related fields can further enhance your qualifications.

Is it hard to get an entry level robotics job?

Entry level robotics jobs typically require foundational skills in programming, electronics, and mechanical design, along with relevant education such as a degree or certification. Competition can be moderate, but gaining hands-on experience through internships or projects can improve chances of securing such roles.

Job description

Acrisure Mortgage is seeking a motivated Junior RPA Developer to join our Automation team. This is an entry-level opportunity designed for someone who is interested in software development, process automation, and using technology to improve how people work.

In this role, you will work alongside experienced developers, project managers, business analysts, and business teams to design, build, test, and support robotic process automation solutions using UiPath.

The ideal candidate does not need extensive professional RPA experience. We are looking for someone with a strong technical foundation, curiosity, problem-solving ability, and a willingness to learn. Familiarity with UiPath, programming concepts, APIs, databases, or workflow automation is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, test, deploy, and maintain robotic process automation solutions using UiPath.
  • Work with senior developers and business analysts to translate business requirements into automated workflows.
  • Analyze existing business processes and identify opportunities for automation and process improvement.
  • Build automations that interact with desktop applications, web applications, Microsoft Office products, APIs, databases, and other enterprise systems.
  • Assist with testing, debugging, and troubleshooting automation workflows.
  • Monitor production automations and help investigate failures or unexpected behavior.
  • Document automation workflows, technical designs, configuration requirements, and support procedures.
  • Participate in code reviews and follow established development standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with business users during user acceptance testing and implementation.
  • Assist with maintaining UiPath Orchestrator environments, queues, assets, schedules, and processes.
  • Continuously develop technical skills related to RPA, APIs, AI, software development, and emerging automation technologies.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent technical training or demonstrated experience will also be considered.
  • Basic understanding of programming or software development concepts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to logically break down a business process into individual steps and decision points.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Strong willingness to learn new technologies and development techniques.

Preferred

  • Exposure to UiPath Studio, UiPath Orchestrator, or UiPath Academy.
  • UiPath certifications or completion of UiPath Academy training.
  • Familiarity with one or more programming or scripting languages such as C#, VB.NET, Python, JavaScript, or PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and web services.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, including formulas and data manipulation.
  • Exposure to Git or other source-control platforms.
  • Internship, academic, personal, or professional projects involving automation or software development.

Professional RPA experience is not required. Candidates who have developed UiPath projects through school, UiPath Academy, internships, or personal projects are encouraged to apply.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first several months, the Junior RPA Developer should be able to understand our development standards, troubleshoot existing automations, make smaller enhancements independently, and begin developing new automation workflows with guidance from senior team members.

As experience grows, the developer will take increasing ownership of automations from development through production support and contribute ideas for improving automation reliability, scalability, and efficiency.

Ideal Candidate

You may be a strong fit if you enjoy solving puzzles, figuring out how systems work, and finding ways to eliminate repetitive work. You are comfortable asking questions, learning from more experienced developers, and working through technical problems until you understand the root cause.

This position offers an opportunity to build a career in intelligent automation while gaining experience with enterprise systems, APIs, software development, artificial intelligence, and business process optimization.

Acrisure Mortgage is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer and maintains a Drug-Free Workplace. Applicants must complete all interviews without the use of AI or automated tools.
