Industrial Robotics Engineer, Bin Picking & Seek‑C‑Find
Where: Orion, MI | Type: Contract | When: Mid-July – Dec 2026 | Rate: $33–$40/hr (based on proven work history)
Are you the engineer who can turn a chaotic bin into consistent, production-grade picks?
- Can you stand up Photoneo and Keyence 3D bin picking—from install and calibration to live part trials?
- Do you craft reliable paths and advanced logic like pick‑to‑Matrox, flip/qualify, and bin empty/tote empty?
- Are Ethernet comms between robots, vision controllers, and client/server systems second nature to you?
- Can you commission hardware, configure Matrox imaging, and collaborate smoothly with PLC programmers?
What you’ll do
- Integrate vision: Expert setup, calibration, and configuration of Photoneo and Keyence 3D bin picking; load and tune Matrox 2D/3D projects and camera settings; build high-accuracy detection recipes.
- Calibrate precisely: Perform hand–eye calibration, scan EOAT, and create dependable localization profiles for bins and totes.
- Program robots: Teach complex trajectories (rough paths, start poses, drop and reject routines) and implement advanced sequences (pick‑to‑Matrox, flip/qualify, bin/tote empty).
- Connect systems: Configure Ethernet communications and validate messaging between all cell components.
- Commission hardware: Execute initial robot commissioning; install and configure Photoneo/Keyence cabinets; set up MAGSWITCH magnetic grippers and suction cups; test thoroughly.
- Partner with PLC: Debug logic and move cells confidently from teach to automatic.
- Optimize performance: Bring deep bin-picking knowledge (file loading, sim deliverables, rough grasping) and fine-tune grasp/localization for reliability.
