Robot Programmer (Bin Packer) - Orion, Michigan
Contract position: Mid-July through December 2026
Pay Rate: $33.00-$40.00 per hour based on proven work history
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS: GRS, MPS, DCS, Fall Protection
Specialized Robot Programming: Bin Picking and "Seek C Find "
Duties of the Robot Programmer (Bin Packer):
In this role the ideal candidate will act as a network and think innovatively while executing the following responsibilities:
Vision Systems Integration (Photoneo, Keyence & Matrox)
  • Photoneo 3D Bin Picking Implementation : Expert-level ability to set-up, calibrate, and configure Photoneo software and hardware environments with the ability to make modifications on the software to adapt multiple pick position options and test on actual parts.
  • Keyence 3D Bin Picking Implementation : Expert-level ability to set up, calibrate, and configure Keyence software and hardware environments with the ability to make modifications on the software to adapt multiple pick position options and test on actual parts.
  • Matrox 2D/3D Imaging : Proficient in loading projects, configuring physical camera settings, and creating precise "recipes " for multi-face part detection
  • Calibration & Localization : Skilled in hand-eye calibration, scanning End of Arm Tooling (EOAT), and setting up localization profiles for bins and totes
Robot Programming:
  • Path Teaching : Experience teaching complex robot trajectories, including rough paths, start poses, drop paths, and reject routines
  • Advanced Logic Programming : Ability to program specialized sequences such as "pick-to-Matrox ", "flip/qualify ", and "bin empty/tote empty " routines
  • Integration & Communications : Competent in setting up Ethernet communication between robots, vision controllers, and client/server architectures
Hardware & Commissioning
  • Initial Set Up : Full lifecycle experience in initial robot commissioning and the physical installation setups of vision cabinets (Keyence or Photoneo)
  • EOAT Set U p : Specialize knowledge in setting up MAGSWITCH magnetic grippers, suction cups, testing functions
  • PLC Collaboration : Ability to work alongside PLC programmers to debug logic and transition systems from manual "teach " mode to automatic operation
Process & Quality Expertise
  • Bin Picking Specialization : Deep understanding of the specific challenges of bin picking, including file loading, sim deliverables, and rough grasping methods
  • Optimization & Tuning : Strong analytical skills for fine-tuning grasping methods and localization settings to maximize reliability
