Job description

Production Castings, Inc. is seeking a skilled Robotics & Automation Technician to help maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the automated systems that keep our manufacturing operations running efficiently. This position plays a key role in supporting industrial robots, PLC-controlled equipment, servo systems, sensors, and other automation technologies throughout our zinc and aluminum die casting facility.
The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex technical problems, has strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills, and is passionate about continuous improvement in a modern manufacturing environment.
Maintain Automated Equipment
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on industrial robots, automated production equipment, servo systems, sensors, and end-of-arm tooling.
  • Inspect, repair, and replace mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic components as needed.
  • Ensure automation equipment operates safely, reliably, and at peak performance.
Troubleshoot & Repair
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, PLC, robotics, and control system failures.
  • Identify root causes of equipment issues and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Respond quickly to production downtime to minimize interruptions.
Automation Support
  • Assist with the installation, wiring, setup, calibration, and commissioning of new automation equipment.
  • Support programming, configuration, and optimization of robotic systems, PLCs, HMIs, and industrial controls.
  • Assist Engineering with automation upgrades and continuous improvement projects.
Industrial Controls & Connectivity
  • Maintain PLC-controlled equipment, industrial networks, and communication systems.
  • Support machine connectivity through Ethernet/IP and other industrial communication protocols.
  • Assist with machine data collection, IoT devices, sensors, and monitoring systems used to improve manufacturing performance.
Documentation & Compliance
  • Accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, equipment changes, and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain current technical documentation, wiring diagrams, and equipment records.
  • Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and lockout/tagout procedures.

Team Collaboration
  • Partner with Maintenance, Engineering, Tooling, Quality, and Production teams to improve equipment reliability and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Provide technical support during equipment startups, process improvements, and automation projects.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, and uptime.

Requirements
Qualifications
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Automation, Robotics, Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience maintaining industrial robotic systems in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, VFDs, sensors, and industrial electrical systems.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Familiarity with industrial networking and communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP is preferred.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
