The clinical abstractor will abstract data for the Quality Indicators, Core Measures, Peer Review, and FPPE/OPPE data and enters it into software program.  Will audit electronic Clinical Quality Measures (eCQM) prior to submission to regulatory bodies. This individual will review and abstract, and audit key patient clinical findings from inpatient and outpatient medical records according to the appropriate Specifications Manual.  The abstractor will assist in data analysis and performance improvement activities as assigned. Will support the OB Steering Committee by providing trending analysis and case detail on a routine basis. Monitors quality standards as determined by the Performance Improvement Plan and Medical Staff Quality Indicators.  Internal consultant and support for Performance Improvement initiatives.


Required Skills
Required Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
  • Previous experience in acute care hospital preferred
  • Current Texas RN license required
  • Must have excellent comprehension of medical terminology, disease processes, familiarity with the medical record and research ability.
  • Ability to work independently; working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required; willingness to learn computer applications necessary for work functions;  ability to adapt to changing situations and various personalities with a positive attitude
  • Ability to abstract data with 90% accuracy required
  • Quality background with understanding of accreditation requirements and performance improvement concepts.
