Registered Nurse

The Vascular Institute of Virginia (VIV) has three advanced outpatient facilities (Woodbridge, VA; Fredericksburg, VA; Fairfax, VA) and one partner facility in Waldorf, Maryland (MVI) focused on minimally invasive treatments for a variety of issues. The vision for our organization is to provide world-class care for our patients in a convenient, outpatient setting. We are currently seeking Registered Nurses (Levels I, II, & III) for various positions including Full-Time, Part-Time and Per Diem.

The Registered Nurse adheres to the rules and regulations of the Virginia Board of Registration in Nursing and is primarily responsible for professional performance and direct patient care. The role encompasses nursing assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, evaluation, and coordination of care for patients and their families across the health care continuum. The registered nurse is accountable for clinical, educational, and quality of patient care and outcomes using the model of care designed by the clinical department and in accordance with established agency policies, procedures, protocols, guidelines and standards of practice.

Registered Nurse- Level I:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an Associate's degree or Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN).
  • Registration and current RN licensure in the state of VA in good standing required.
  • Requires current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Basic computer proficiency inclusive of ability to access, enters, and interpret computerized data/information.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to facilitate communication with various members of the health care team, patients, and families
  • Organizational skills to set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work.
  • Ability to effectively delegate appropriate patient care activities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills appropriate to the patient populations served. Physical ability to meet the core job responsibilities in accordance with practice setting demands for the patient populations regularly served.
  • Able to triage patient phone calls effectively
  • Able to competently and efficiently manage Pre-Procedure patients and Post-Procedure patient simultaneously
Registered Nurse- Level II:
  • All of the above-mentioned specifications of Level I
  • Requires Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) certification
  • Analytical ability to solve clinical nursing issues and
  • Able to assume an expanded role, which could include, but not limited to: Patient Flow Coordinator, Service Line Assignments and committee member responsibilities
  • 2yrs experience as RN, preferred
Registered Nurse- Level III:
  • All of the above-mentioned specification of Level I & II
  • Ability to effectively manage stress due to critical issues related to patient care, changing organizational climate and personnel issues.
  • Increased level of responsibilities that may include participation in formal and informal educational activities that support evidence-based care and outcomes
  • Conduct quality improvement research utilization projects.
  • Participating in new staff orientation and functioning as preceptor for new hires
  • Previous Critical Care, ER, Cardiac and/or Cath Lab experience, preferred
