Duties of Agency Registered Nurse
  • Performs routine nursing duties.
  • Work involves providing for the assessment, care and treatment of individuals. May train others.
  • Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
  • Works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Shift Coordinator.
  • The Unit RN may assign nursing responsibilities to the Unit LVN in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
  • The responsibility of the Unit RN is to provide for and supervise the professional nursing care of the individuals who reside in a State Hospital.
  • The Unit RN is a member of the professional team and shares responsibility with other team members for the development of the individual's program. Work involves communication skills, i.e. relaying information to other team members, Primary Care Provider, nurses; data entry, documentation, completing reports, maintaining personnel records, supervisory duties of LVNs and psychiatric nursing assistants, and following all facility rules/policies.
Requirements:
  • Current Resume
  • Must be licensed RN and able to practice in Texas
  • Preferably 1+ years as a direct care nurse / 1+ years of psychiatric nursing experience preferred
  • Current American Heart Association CPR certification
  • Valid Photo / Driver's License
  • Social security Card
  • 2 current supervisor references
  • Physical (within 12 months)
  • Must have negative PPD results within last 12 months
  • Vaccinations: MMR/Hep B/Varicella or titers
  • Must be able to successfully pass a urine drug screen and background check
  • Must be able to successfully pass an FBI fingerprint background check
