Job Description
The BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems' (SMS) Facilities & Plant Operations teams support the sector's 35 properties representing over 2.2 million SF of real estate in Colorado. This established team of over 90 Facilities professionals is committed to service and support, continuous improvement, and creating and maintaining facilities which enable world class engineers and technicians to create a better, safer, and more informed and productive world. The Facilities Engineering team provides facilities designs and engineering guidance across BAE Systems campuses in Westminster, Broomfield, and Boulder.
We are seeking a collaborative and energized individual to join our Facilities and Plant Operations Technology Team as a Revit Drafter. In this role, a successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to perform consistent and competent Revit modeling of BAE Systems SMS facilities. This will be achieved by a willingness to learn about the nuances of our highly technical facilities through research of historical documentation and field verification. The selected candidate will be trained in the use of our laser scanner and then be expected to complete laser scanning and Revit modeling projects as needed with the ultimate goal of increasing the quantity and quality of our Revit models.
The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution - from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.
What You'll Do:
  • Create Revit models of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems based on laser scans, drawings, and field verification.
  • Input data into SMS Revit models through historical documentation research and field verification.
  • Field verify accuracy of BAE Systems SMS As-Built Revit models.
  • Laser scan BAE Systems SMS facilities and process data into point clouds.
  • Update models based on input from internal maintenance, engineering, and contract personnel.
  • Regularly track, report, and predict modeling and scanning progress.
  • Fully understand and assist with the development of BAE Systems SMS BIM Standards.
  • Work with external companies to provide Revit models for design and receive as-built models back.
  • Validate adherence of submitted contractor models to BAE Systems SMS BIM Standards.
  • Integrate contactor submitted as-built models into BAE Systems SMS master models.
  • Digitally catalog project closeout documentation. Examples include as-built drawings and submittals.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site three or more days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.

Required Skills and Education
  • High School diploma or equivalent plus 3 years or more related experience.
  • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor's or Master's, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • MEP Revit modeling experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to understand facilities and building systems (such as: HVAC systems, closed-loop piping systems, etc.).
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Proven history of safe workplace practices.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proven history of creating collaborative relationships across all levels of personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage work schedule and meet deadlines.

A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
