Staff Consultant

The Government Assurance Practice Group Compliance and Risk Management practice is seeking a Staff Consultant who is ready to grow with us. While we expect you to be able to work independently with minimum supervision, you will receive sufficient coaching, mentoring, and hands-on guidance from more experienced consultants. We will also offer you extensive internal and external training on various topics including technical skills, soft skills, teamwork, and relationships. We expect you to demonstrate flexibility, have a willingness to seek out advice, and exhibit an ambition for learning. We anticipate that after a year you will be able to perform increasingly complex functions with little supervision.

BerryDunn's Compliance and Risk Management Practice focuses on compliance assurance services. We have assisted various state and local governments to strengthen internal controls to protect their resources from waste, abuse, and fraud, and to improve operational efficiency while maintaining compliance. Our goal is to be a trusted business partner for our clients by providing auditing and consulting services.

Location: Ideal candidate can work at our Kapolei office in Hawai'i to support our clients in the North Pacific region including Guam, CNMI, and Hawai'i. We would also consider candidates who can work at the Portland office in ME or at the Waltham office in MA.

Travel Expectations: Willingness to travel 10 - 30%

Responsibilities

As a Staff Consultant/Auditor with our group, you will perform the following responsibilities:

  • Assist in providing consulting and auditing services to clients under the supervision of more experienced consultants
  • Perform testing and prepare workpapers
  • Develop strong proficiency in all computer applications that are routinely used
  • Become knowledgeable about relevant auditing standards and subject matters
  • Support delivery of services to clients on time, within scope, and within budget, including assisting in creating written deliverables and other work products
  • Participate in meetings and interviews with client stakeholders and assist in documenting client needs and challenges
  • Assist with project management tasks such as tracking and reporting project progress, maintaining project document repository, and reviewing deliverables for quality assurance
  • Participate in staff/team meetings and training
  • Support additional team operations on an as-needed basis including events and marketing, internal research projects, and ongoing professional development initiatives
  • Develop your independent development plan and continue to grow professionally by working toward your goals
  • Understand and comply with the firm's policies and procedures
  • Work in a fast-paced environment
  • Juggle multiple assignments at once
  • Travel within the country and U.S. territories, as needed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business, Public administration
  • A strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in relationship building
  • Interest in pursuing a career in auditing
  • Previous team project experience
  • Strong time-management and organization skills
  • Strong ability to multitask
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Relevant work experience in a relevant field is a plus
  • Knowledge in Medicaid policies and program integrity is a plus
Compensation Details

The base salary range targeted for this role is $68,000 - $74,000. This salary range represents BerryDunn's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications more than the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply, and a final salary range may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
