Job description

The Wistar Institute is a world leader in early-stage discovery science in the areas of cancer, immunology, and infectious disease. Wistar’s dynamic environment supports the advancement of discoveries that will change the future of human health. 

The Wistar Institute has an opening for a fully remote entry level position of Grants & Contracts Administrator to join the Finance department. The official job title of this position is Research Financial Administrator (RFA). The successful candidate will provide grant-related administrative and financial support to the Principal Investigators, their scientific staff and Finance team.

Responsibilities will include pre- and post-award financial administration of grants including preparing financial aspects of federal and non-federal proposals, administering awards in compliance with agency and institutional policies, fiscal management of grant budgets, and preparing invoices and reports of expenditures for sponsoring agencies. In addition, the RFA will prepare financial analysis of funding support for the Principal Investigators to determine their annual budget and the availability of their funds. The RFA will review expenditures to ensure compliance with both Wistar and funding agency policies, prepare and process journal entries for cost transfers between awards, award close-outs, and allocating charges to proper awards, as needed. Additional duties as assigned.

A bachelor’s degree in accounting or business-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience in the financial administration of federal grants or grant-related accounting is preferred. Experience with Workday is a plus.  

Remote Work & Location Requirement

This is a fully remote position; however, candidates must reside in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, or Delaware. Successful candidate may need to attend meetings or otherwise be present in our Philadelphia office when necessary.

In compliance with the New Jersey Pay and Benefit Transparency Act, this posting includes the salary range and a general description of benefits applicable to this role.

Salary Range: $56,619 - $63,695
