This position is remote, providing the flexibility of working from home while still being a part of a close-knit, outpatient team in Norfolk, Virginia. Our outpatient office supports a culture of collaboration, where communication is key, and we use team-based approaches to deliver integrated care. You will have access to various tools and resources designed to facilitate your work, including teletherapy platforms, electronic health records, and professional development opportunities.

• Conduct thorough assessments to understand the mental health concerns of clients, formulate accurate clinical diagnoses, and develop individualized treatment plans that integrate evidence-based practices.
• Deliver effective individual, group, and family therapy using proven therapeutic modalities, ensuring each session is customized to meet the specific needs and goals of clients.
• Provide immediate crisis intervention and support for clients facing acute psychological distress, using your expertise to stabilize situations and establish safety.
• Maintain meticulous and confidential documentation of client information, including treatment plans, progress notes, and assessment outcomes, in compliance with ethical and legal standards.
• Collaborate with a wide range of interdisciplinary professionals such as psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare providers to coordinate care and ensure comprehensive treatment for clients.
• Educate clients and their families about mental health issues, treatment strategies, and available community resources, while advocating for their rights and needs.
• Engage in ongoing professional development through training and workshops, staying abreast of the latest research and techniques in mental health therapy.

In your role as a Mental Health Therapist, you will work with a diverse client population, including children, adolescents, adults, and families facing a range of psychological challenges. Common issues addressed include anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, trauma, and behavioral concerns. Your therapeutic interventions will be instrumental in enhancing their coping skills and overall quality of life.

• Must possess a current license as a Mental Health Therapist (LMFT, LPC, LCSW) in the relevant jurisdiction.
• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Demonstrated expertise in clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
• At least two years of relevant experience in mental health counseling.
• Excellent communication, active listening, and interpersonal abilities.
• Strong capacity to work autonomously as well as function effectively within a collaborative team setting.
• Dedication to upholding the highest ethical standards and professionalism.

• Prior experience working in a clinical setting is favored but not mandatory for entry-level candidates.
