Position Overview

Kiewit is seeking a Software Engineer to architect, design, and deliver enterprise-grade data and analytics solutions that support strategic initiatives across the technology organization. This highly technical role requires building strong partnerships with stakeholders throughout Kiewit\'s technology teams while leading the development and implementation of scalable data platforms, analytics products, and data strategy initiatives.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in data architecture and engineering with strong communication and leadership skills. They will leverage modern development practices, including AI-assisted engineering tools, to improve productivity, code quality, solution reliability, and delivery velocity while driving innovation across the organization.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop scalable Power BI datasets, semantic models, and analytics solutions.
  • Create high-performance data models and DAX calculations to support business reporting.
  • Implement advanced Power BI capabilities, including incremental refresh, aggregations, and hybrid architectures.
  • Optimize, troubleshoot, and maintain data and analytics platforms.
  • Develop AI-enabled solutions using Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Claude, and other approved technologies.
  • Integrate AI services with enterprise data, applications, and cloud environments.
  • Monitor platform health and optimize performance, scalability, reliability, and cost.
  • Partner with architects, developers, and business stakeholders to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Ensure security, compliance, and governance standards are met.
  • Mentor team members and contribute to technical best practices.
Qualifications
  • Advanced SQL and PL/SQL expertise, including performance tuning and query optimization.
  • Strong Python skills for data engineering, automation, and analytics development.
  • Experience building and optimizing enterprise-scale Power BI datasets and semantic models.
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable data solutions and integrations.
  • Familiarity with Azure data technologies, including Databricks, Data Factory, and related tools.
  • Solid understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and data warehousing principles.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
