Job description

Job Title: Line Tech

Location: Mishawaka, IN

Job Type: Hourly

Work Schedule: Sunday–Wednesday or Wednesday-Saturday

Hours: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM or 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM (12-hour shifts) / Wednesday: 6:00 PM – 12:00 AM (6-hour shift) or 6:00 AM - 12 PM

Pay: $18-$20 depending on experience / Night shift $1.00 shift differential Weekend shift $1.50 shift Diff.


Position Summary:

The Line Tech is an entry-level role responsible for supporting production lines by quickly responding to issues as they arise, performing basic troubleshooting, and keeping equipment running safely and efficiently. This role is not part of the core Maintenance team but works closely with Maintenance and Production to minimize downtime and support operators.

The Line Tech will learn basic mechanical tasks, help with line changeovers, complete required quality checks, and communicate equipment issues that need escalation.


Key Responsibilities:

Line Support & Troubleshooting:

  • Monitor assigned production line(s) and respondimmediatelywhen jams, minor mechanical issues, or quality concerns occur.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting such as clearing minor jams, adjusting belts/guides, restarting equipment, or resetting sensors under guidance.
  • Assistoperators with line adjustments during startup, changeover, and shutdown.
  • Escalate issues to Maintenance or Production Leadership when they exceed entry-level capabilities.
  • Document and communicate recurring issues to help prevent future downtime.


Equipment Operation & Line Efficiency:

  • Support line setup, changeovers, and material loading as directed.
  • Helpoperateequipment when needed tomaintainline flow.
  • Completerequired quality and safety checks (visual inspections, basic measurements, documentation).
  • Keep the work area organized, clean, and compliant with GMP and safety standards.

Preventive Support:

  • Perform simple tasks such as cleaning sensors, checking basic components for wear, and ensuring equipment areasremainfree of debris.
  • Assist Maintenance during scheduled PM windows by providing line access, helping remove/replace guards, and supporting basic tasks.

Communication & Coordination:

  • Communicate equipment concerns, downtime events, and quality issues clearly to operators, maintenance, and supervisors.
  • Provide shift-to-shift handoff information to ensure continuity and awareness of ongoing issues.
  • Participate in team huddles and continuous improvement discussions.

Training & Teamwork:

  • Support operators by sharing knowledge on basic adjustments and proper equipment use.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with employees across all shifts and departments.
  • Follow all company policies including GMP, Lockout/Tagout (as trained/authorized), safety procedures, and housekeeping.


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GEDrequired.
  • Prior manufacturing or machine operation experience preferred but notrequired.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude—comfortable learning hands-on equipment adjustments.
  • Strong communicationskills and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and react quickly to line issues.
